Laser Dentistry Cincinnati, OH

A new era of dentistry is here....

Lasers are quickly becoming the definitive level of care in dentistry for many general and cosmetic procedures.  The BIOLASE Waterlase® MD laser is a revolutionary new dental device that uses laser-energized water to perform a wide range of dental treatments, with less need for shots, anesthesia, drills and post-op swelling and numbness.  The laser can be used in root canal therapy, for cavity prevention, to remove decay, smile design, and soft tissue procedures.  After a careful assessment of your teeth, your Cincinnati laser dentist, Dr. Miller will determine which type of treatment is right for you.

The Waterlase® system is safe for hard and soft tissue procedures for both children and adults.  Traditional drilling methods can cause teeth to overheat during procedures, leading to discomfort and possible tissue damage.  Due to the accuracy and precision of the Waterlase® system, procedures are less invasive, resulting in preserved tissue and bone structure, improved patient comfort and rapid healing.  Since Dr. Miller can perform a wider range of treatments with the Waterlase® system, you no longer have to take an additional trip to see a specialist; instead you can have all your treatments done in just one visit.

The Waterlase® system also acts as an important diagnostic tool that allows Dr. Miller to detect decay and other dental problems before they happen and before they can be spotted on an x-ray.

Experience a relaxing pain-free dental experience unlike any other at First Impressions Dentistry.  Call today to find out how Waterlase® in Cincinnati can benefit you.

Why choose
Waterlase® Dentistry over traditional dentistry?

Less Invasive approach, means in most cases, No Drills, No Needles, No Numbness.Resulting in a virtually Pain Free dental experience!

Fewer Shots-The high efficiency Waterlase® system allows many cavity preparations to be performed without the use of needles.  This means less anesthesia is used and cavities can be filled in just one dental appointment, saving you time and money.  Not to mention, you'll feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire procedure.

Treatment of Canker Sores, Herpetic and Aphthous Ulcers - These lesions can appear inside the mouth and on and around the lips and can be very painful.  At the onset of a breakout or once it is present, we're able to treat the infected area with a quick laser procedure.  In just 5 minutes, patients can enjoy instant pain relief and comfort.  Studies show that treating these sores with advanced laser dentistry, speeds up the healing process and prevents the outbreak from occurring in the same spot again.

After a laser therapy treatment in Cincinnati, most patients notice their sores disappearing in three to four days.

Less down time and post-op discomfort - The accuracy and precision of the Waterlase®Laser helps to reduce infection, swelling, and bleeding.  This means less healing and recovery time is required.

Gum tissue treatments - With the versatility of the Waterlase®system, many treatments that use to require a referral to a specialist can be performed by Dr. Miller, right in our office.  Procedures suchgingivectomies, crown lengthening, frenectomies, and tissue contouring are now all available at First Impressions Dentistry.

Biopsies and lesions - For these type of procedure, most patients will be sent for testing directly to the lab and results will immediately be sent back to our office.  A referral may be needed for a follow-up visit.

Laser Periodontal Therapy Cincinnati

Periodontal disease is an infection that destroys gum tissue.  It begins with the formation of plaque build-up on the teeth and eventually forms into tarter.  Tarter build-up causes bacteria to form in between teeth and gums, eating away at the soft gum tissue.  This is considered a mild form of gum diesase called gingivitis.  Gums become red and inflamed and may even bleed.  If left untreated, gingivitis can lead to serious gum disease known as Periodontitis, which is the number one cause of tooth loss in late adulthood.  Studies show that more than 50 percent of American adults over the age of 30 experience some kind of periodontal disease.

Laser therapy at our Cincinnatti, Ohio dental practice, provides a less painful, non-surgical alternative to treating gum disease, at any stage.  During the procedure, Dr. Miller will carefully remove the bacteria from between the teeth and gums, using a small amount of laser light energy.  The laser removes only damaged or diseased tissue and helps preserve and protect the surrounding healthy gum tissue and tooth enamel.

If you are concerned that you may have gum disease or are in the early stages of it, call to book an appointment with Dr. Miller today.  Or if you would like more information about our Laser Periodontal Therapy, we'll be more than happy to answer any of your questions or concerns.  Call us now.

Cosmetic Gum Contouring Cincinnati , OH - Gingivectomy

A "gummy" smile is when more gum is shown than teeth when you smile.  Many people who have a "gummy" smile avoid smiling because they feel embarrassed and self conscious.  Using laser dentistry technology, Dr. Miller can successfully contour your gums, making the teeth appear longer.

Gingivectomies are similar to gum contouring, but with the aim of improving mouth function and preventing the spread of tooth decay.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is often used when preparing teeth for cosmetic restorations like a dental crown.  Dr. Miller uses laser dentistry in Cincinnati to gently remove gum tissue around the gum line so more of the dental crown is visible.  The entire procedure is quick, safe, and less painful than traditional methods.

Frenectomies

"Frenulums," are tissues in the mouth thatconnect other tissues located under the tongue, inside both the upper and lower lip and in the cheek.  Their job is to help prevent these tissues from moving out of place.  In some cases the frenulum may be too short causing problems with speaking, eating, and drinking and also causing issues with the teeth and gums.

Dr. Miller can perform a frenectomy using laser dentistry to easily and comfortably remove the restrictive tissue.  During the procedure the laser helps sterilize the tissue, reducing the risk of infection and resulting in faster recovery time.
